yoyogi park

29/11/2009

again, yoyogi park is the best park i have ever been to. the colors were amazing, people watching was great, and the street performers were ridiculous. i am definitely bringing a frisbee next time i go.

kyoto!

25/10/2009

kyoto was a great trip. although it is much smaller than tokyo, there is so much to see. like i mentioned before i left for kyoto, there is a bunch of shrines scattered around the city, and the natural beauty is …. beautiful. the leaves were just starting to change, so there werent many trees full of those unbelievable red leaves that you see if you googled kyoto, but it was still pretty nonetheless. there were golden temples, food markets, rock gardens, tons of shopping (go figure), and whatever else you see in the photos/videos below. the shinkansen (bullet train) was exactly on time for departure and arrival… which still does not make any sense. my favorite place in kyoto was sanjusangendo, but i have no photos of the inside, because photography was not allowed. inside are 1000+ life-sized statues of the Thousand Armed Kannon…. wikipedia it for a better understanding :) my hotel was better than then my apartment in tokyo. (lets just say there is a photo of the toilet somewhere below) i did not end up seeing lake biwa, but i am not too upset about that. i kind of wish i had more time in kyoto, maybe i will go back…

enjoy the zillions of photos and videos :)
(sorry for the short and unedited videos, im too lazy to combine them all into one big video)

minato-ku festival

10/10/2009

so… there was a festival in minato-ku (minato city), which is really close to our campus here. the festival took place right outside tokyo tower. there was live music, food, dancing, art, kimonos (which i tried on), a dog that looked like a stuffed animal, and so much more. there are a lot of photos, so take a few minutes out of your day and check them out. enjoy :)

p.s. we went to karaoke for the first time here, too bad im not showing you the videos.

smoke

6/10/2009

last night across from Omotesando Hills, my friend Momoko had a party full of drinks, music, fruit, and art at a place called Smoke. Momoko and her two other artist friends painted a mural/3-d/awesome looking thing which they started painting during the party. here are some photos and videos that will help you understand what i am failing to properly describe…
